One Quick Change!

Although I am very far along in the process of finishing everything, I have decided to make a change on the website. I asked a few classmates and some of my panel members whether or not they thought using Facebook instead of Blogger was a good idea. Pretty much everyone agreed Facebook would be a better pick. The main reason I started to ask around is because I thought of what I could do that would make the website just a bit more easier to deal with. I knew that using blogger would probably mean creating a new account and all that stuff. I also know that Facebook is already used a lot by most people so I thought to myself why not just start a group on there where people can write on "notes" and share them without having to create another ENTIRELY different account. I hope this helps attract others to the site. It is also easier for me to spread the word to my classmates and friends and them to theirs. Let's hope this helps the process of my site!
Thanks for all the support!

Getting There

This has been a very difficult journey for me and it seems as everything is finally falling into its place. I'm just about ready to finish everything and have time to have everything just the way I want it. I hope my website goes further than where it is now. I know my website is there and I've notified others how to access the site, but I need to let them know how to use it. I will have short instructions on certain pages of the site to direct visitors/members how to work the website, but in the end I want to have a video that will explain everything. It will be a video of me simply speaking to everyone about how the website works, what the mission (slogan) of my website, "Be free. Show the world!" means to me. I will explain how to access everything from the website as well.
I have most of the webpages completed with the content I need but I'm still working on the appearance so the experience of potential members is a good one. I spoke to one of my panel members, Jeremy Duncan, about my fear of having too much of a variety on the design of each page on Sticture. He thought the website looked really neat but I would love to hear thoughts from everyone else. I personally like the variety, but that"s just my opinion. Below are pictures of the website"s homepage, Blogger page and Flickr page.

Presentation Day

Well this past week I recieved e-mails from all my panel members. They are all able to attend my presentation day in May. I am excited and really nervous. What I have in mind for presentation day is actually having my panel members upload some works of their own. I would ask each of them to bring some of their own works of media and upoad them on to the flickr group. So the way I have organized the website is to work is having a button on a page of the Sticture website which will open another window with direct access to the Sticture group on Flickr. So on the presentation day I am going to go step by step on how to access Sticture and how media works can be views by others. I am still working on having everything planned and hopefully this Monday I will have it set. I am thinking of actually making pamphlets or somhing of that sort to hand out on that day, but I'm not sure yet. Any ideas?

Wix

For the past few weeks I have been working on my website. It has been difficult to get everything done because of my hectic schedule. Although everything seems to be all over the place, I am having a lot of fun building the website. I am using Wix. It is a website more for self promotion, but I am making it work.I have found ways around my problems and am so excited to show off the finishing result. I'm hoping to have the website published by the end of the month of March. I also have completed my logo for the site. I was inspired by one of my favorite shirt, which I purchased at a thrift store. This is my logo for "Sticture". I used an online paint program on a website called One Motion. It took a lot of patience, but I am really happy with my final result.

A New Plan

I have good news and bad news. The good news is I have found a way to make my website possible for free. The bad news is I am afraid less people will join because of the way I am going to make my website possible. I know I mentioned my idea in my last blog, but it seemed to me I made it pretty difficult to understand. I am going to start from scratch. Webs is completely out of the picture for a few reasons: it makes the process of joining rather difficult and annoying, Webs constantly has complete shut downs and it does not make it a very easy process to upload photos.
What I have decided to do is use a website I mentioned in one of my previous blogs called, Wix. This will be the initial website, where I will post updates and those pictures I find interesting along with there blogs on a monthly bases, like a "Pictures & Blogs of the Month" kind of thing. It isn't necessarily a contest, but more of a way to give some people the spotlight for a bit. I am trying to make this entire change as easy as possible. My NEW plan is to have a page on the site with two links. One of them will be to Flickr and the other to Blogger.
I will place the links that direct those who join directly to the login page so they don't have to deal with the issue of searching for it. With those two websites I will make "STICTURE" possible. Everyone who joins will be able to view my websites and updates without having to log in, and then have Flickr as the space to store their photographs and blogger to post their blogs. The good thing about having blogger is the ability to embed pictures and video. This will make it easier for the users to simply have the photograph right there with the blog it belongs to. With Flickr I am looking into creating a group so everyone can see one another's photos and such without having to search others every time. I will soon post the link to my new site once I get a little further along with it.

I hope this helps clear things up. Thanks for all the support from everyone who has been helping me in the process!

It's Complicated

These past two weeks have been very interesting. I think I have attempted making a site with about three or four other website builders. I have been trying to use Webs, but it constantly has problems with the site. I have tried Yola, Wix and Doodlekit. I have been able to do different things with each one in order to build up the photo blogging website I had in mind, but something always gets in the way. The main issue is money. The features I want to use on the website I am trying to create cost money: on their PREMIUM packages. I have finally figured my way around all this. Because I have already made my trailer and advertised "STICTURE" on the Internet, it would be a big pain to tell my viewers they have to join a whole other site. So, my solution is to work with what I am provided with on Webs.com and create an online album with a separate site. The idea would be to have the album on another site, but have the link to go directly to the page on the actual "STICTURE" site. I hope to accomplish that this week so there will be no more time being wasted on trying out all these different sites in hopes for them providing them with what I need. I am thinking of using Photobucket for the album site. Are there any other suggestions for a website that can provide me with a good online photography storage?

Well, hello there!

So this week was a pretty stressful week for many reasons. School, issues at home and no mainly just issues at home is the rest of it. Although, I can say this week something pretty cool happened: I met one of my panel members, Billy Stone, from Houston's Stonefilms. You can visit his site to learn a little about what he does at: Stonefilms.com. He works with the making of commercials and local information shows. It was really nice to meet him. He has a very outgoing personality and I felt very comfortable talking to him. He was up at my school interviewing some students. I was pretty surprised when I found out he was on campus. I was really nervous to meet him. He had recently replied to one of my e-mails giving me some feedback on my website. I was able to fix a few things here and there, for example, my font on the site. He said I was doing very well and that really gave me a confident boost. It let me know I was doing something right. He is very quick in giving me feedback without my asking. He also gave me this idea to make my very own logo for my site. I need to find out how I can do that on the site, but I will find a way. Soon, I will post a video on my website to give my members a better idea what the website is all about. I will be speaking to my viewers and hopefully that can help me gain more. Oh! Before I forget, I have great news! I was finally given a camera as a gift! I am not sure what the model is, but I know the name of the camera is LUMIX. It is amazing! I love it! I will upload pictures I have taken with it on the site so go check them out! Just in case you forgot my website is "STICTURE".
